The most anticipated beauty pageant of the year has come, and celebrities came dressed elegantly at the Sun Arena, Time Square, Tshwane.

Limpopo-born beauty queen Ndavi Nokeri (23) was crowned Miss South Africa 2022 taking over the crown after Lalela Mswane.

Ndavi told the audience that having support from her province means a lot to her.

“They are the shoulders I am standing on today. I know that I have to show up 100 percent every time. I am proof that even someone from a small village and humble beginnings can achieve their ambitions and show that their dreams are valid.”

The panel of judges included reigning Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu of India, former South African public protector Thuli Madonsela, investigative journalist Devi Sankaree Govender, businesswoman and Miss South Africa Suzette van der Merwe (1990), TV personality Thando Thabethe, former Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi and former Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss.

When Ndavi was asked by the judges what the most important thing is to keep the unity of our nation, the BCom in Investment Management graduate told the judges that history is the greatest teacher.

"To know where you are going, you need to know where you come from. Being a nation that comes from a history of a past of racial segregation, we know that when we were divided, we were at our weakest," she says.

"So as Miss South Africa I would implore us to stand together and embrace every single culture, gender, race, and sexuality because in our diversity we are strong."
